An Intermediate Subset under Consequence-Weighted Selection
Abstract
Expected opportunity cost evaluates the magnitude of a wrong choice, while a structural subset task delays the final choice. Their comparison should specify the later evaluator and its resources. Exclusion loss and retained-candidate checking work need joint accounting. A favorable initial subset can otherwise move the burden forward without improving the complete decision. This focused synthesis develops an empirical comparison that preserves the terminal action, observation process, and total verification cost. Its proposed tests are prospective; no new simulation run, model-training result, or intervention effect is reported.
